Wood-inspired floors are a great way to make a bathroom feel like your own personal spa! While real wood floors look great and provide a feeling of peace and warmth, they aren’t ideal for damp areas, such as the bathroom. However, today’s technology has created wood-inspired floors that look identical to traditional hardwood, but are made of materials suitable for the bathroom.
Faux Wood Tile
Faux wood tile is ceramic or porcelain tile that imitates hardwood, so much so that the texture feels like the natural texture of real wood. The material has a higher resistance to water so it can even be used in the shower, and comes in a variety of patterns and designs to match any bathroom. Faux wood tile transforms any bathroom into a personal spa, and can immediately create a feeling of relaxation and luxury.
The top layer of engineered wood is actually real wood, but since it has a plywood base, it is acceptable to use in the bathroom. In fact, if you insist on natural wood in your bathroom for a complete spa feel, this is one of the best options.
Laminate flooring is a better bathroom flooring choice than solid hardwood, but you must take precautions to protect its wood base from moisture. The flooring is made from a photograph of wood (or other materials) on top of a wood chip base. A clear top coat, called the wear layer, is very strong and can last many years.
Now if you still feel as though you absolutely need hardwood floors in your bathroom, you must take extra precautions and have the floors professionally installed. Moisture kills solid hardwood, so if there are any gaps for moisture, your floors will be ruined. If installed correctly, the result will be a luxurious bathroom that feels like a relaxing spa.
