Differences Between Laminate and Luxury Vinyl Tile

There are several flooring options available, from hard wood, to ceramic tile, to carpet, to laminate, and finally, luxury vinyl tile. Of these options, laminate and vinyl tile are the most affordable, but one provides added durability along with being cost-effective.

This article from EzineArticles.com explains the differences between laminate and luxury vinyl tile flooring.

The first key difference in these two flooring options is price. Laminate flooring comes in different grades and can be very affordable, while luxury vinyl is slightly more expensive, ranging anywhere from $.99/square foot to $5/square foot.

What truly sets luxury vinyl apart from laminate is its durability. Most standards of durability are based on thickness and luxury vinyl is at least 2mm thinker than the average laminate flooring. Furthermore, most luxury vinyl tile is also scratch resistant, waterproof (resistant to mold/mildew) and, in some cases, hypoallergenic, making it a much better option for homes and other high-traffic areas. Laminante, on the other hand, does not possess any of those traits.

Then there is cleaning. Unlike laminate flooring and other materials, you will not need to purchase special cleaners, reapply finish solutions, or buff and wax. Your luxury vinyl can be maintained with the occasional application of a broom and wet mop.

So if you are looking for a flooring option that is durable, easy to clean and will not break the bank, there is only one solution – luxury vinyl tile. If you have any questions, contact Jim Boyd’s Flooring America by calling 410-667-0620 or click here today!
